EL Paso Diablos
An Independent baseball team, El Paso Diablos is based in El Paso, Texas. The team was established in 2005 and play their home games at Cohen Stadium that is situated on the Northeast side of El Paso, Texas. Currently, the Diablos are a member of the American Association.
Basically the team was founded in 1892 as El Paso Browns. Later on the name was changed to Mavericks. The team was a member of the Copper League and won the post season tournament in 1913. The league folded after a year.
In 1930, the team was renamed as El Paso Texans and became a member of the Arizona State League and remained in this league for decades. In 1974, finally the team was renamed as El Paso Diablos. In 1994, the Diablos won the Texas League Pennant.
In 2004, the team was sold to the St. Louis Cardinals for an estimated $9.8 million. In 2005, it was declared that the independent Central Baseball League had given a franchise to former Brewer-era Diablo player Mark Schuster who further brought back the Diablos to start the game that same year. The team’s colors are: balck and red.
EL Paso Rhinos
A junior hockey team, El Paso Rhinos is based in El Paso, Texas. The junior league El Paso Rhinos are in the Eastern division with Tulsa, Lafayette, Fort Worth, Dallas, and San Antonio. The team is looking for host families for the 2006-07 season. The team was founded in the month of September of 2006.
Cory Herman, a retired professional hockey player founded the junior team. The Rhinos play their home games at the Sierra Providence Events Center.
EL Paso Brawlers
A minor league football team, El Paso Brawlers is based in El Paso, Texas. The Brawlers play their home games at Cohen Stadium that is situated on the Northeast side of El Paso, Texas. The non-profit El Paso Brawlers are totally 100% locally owned and operated. Currently, the team ranked number 2 in the Southwest Football Conference.
